On-page SEO is the part you fully control. No outreach, no waiting on someone else to publish your link — just the page itself, telling Google and a reader what it is and why it deserves the click. It is also where most Indian sites leave the easiest wins on the table, because it is unglamorous and nobody brags about a rewritten title tag.

1. One page, one primary keyword

Pick the single term the page should win, and put it in the title, the H1, the URL and the opening paragraph. If two of your pages target the same term, they compete with each other and Google picks one — usually not the one you wanted. Decide deliberately which page owns which term.

Choose that term from actual data. Google Keyword Planner is free with any Ads account and tells you whether a phrase has demand at all. Plenty of sensible-sounding phrases — "affordable backlinks india" is a real example — have effectively zero searches.

2. Title tags: write for the click, not just the crawler

Keep the rendered title around 60 characters, including whatever your CMS appends to it. Front-load the keyword, then give a reason to click: a price, a number, a differentiator.

A page ranking fifth with a compelling title beats a page ranking third with a vague one. If you have pages ranking on page one with no clicks, the title is the problem, not the ranking.

3. Meta descriptions

Not a ranking factor. Still worth writing, because it is ad copy for a free listing. Around 155 characters, include the keyword so it bolds in the result, and say something concrete. Google rewrites it perhaps a third of the time — that is fine.

4. Heading structure that mirrors the content

One H1 per page, describing the whole page. H2s for the genuine sub-topics. H3s underneath the H2 they belong to — a heading level is a hierarchy, not a keyword-priority ranking. Ordering headings by search volume rather than by meaning breaks the outline Google uses to understand your page.

5. Keyword placement: prominence over frequency

Put the term where weight actually sits — the title, the H1, the first hundred words, and one or two H2s where it fits naturally.

Keyword density is not a target. Google stopped using it as a signal well over a decade ago, and writing to hit a percentage produces copy that repels the buyer you are trying to convince. What genuinely matters is that the phrase appears early, reads naturally, and appears as a phrase rather than scattered words. Zero mentions is a real problem. Three percent is a different one.

6. Internal links with descriptive anchors

Link from relevant content to the pages you want to rank, using anchor text that describes the destination. "Click here" tells Google nothing. Internal links are the one link type you control completely, and most sites underuse them badly.

7. Content that answers the query fully

Cover what someone searching that term actually needs, including the awkward parts — pricing, limitations, who it is not for. Pages that answer honestly earn links and get cited by AI answer engines; pages that dodge get skimmed and closed.

The order to work in

Fix titles first — they change click-through immediately. Then headings and opening paragraphs. Then internal links. Content depth last, because it is the most expensive.

How we handle this

Our on-page SEO services cover the research, the rewrites and the implementation on your priority pages. On-page work makes the pages worth ranking; if they still don't move after that, the missing ingredient is usually authority — see our guest posting services. For an online store, the same work applied across category and product templates is our ecommerce SEO services.

How long does on-page SEO take to work?

Title and meta changes can shift click-through within days of a recrawl. Ranking movement from structural and content changes typically takes three to eight weeks.

Is on-page SEO enough on its own?

For low-competition and long-tail terms, often yes. For anything commercial and contested, on-page gets you eligible to rank — links decide the order.

How many keywords should one page target?

One primary, and a handful of closely related variations that appear naturally. If you need to target a genuinely different term, that is a different page.
